Forming in late 2024, The Bluedays
are the result of a collective desire by Gavin Atkinson (drums), Peter
McIver (bass and vocals) and David Robinson (guitar and vocals) to deliver
no-nonsense, vibrant tunes to all who want to listen. In the often congested and
over-engineered environment of today’s music, The Bluedays are a breath of
fresh air. This exciting three-piece outfit spirits folks away to a more
immediate musical landscape. Power-pop, indie, punk? That’s for others to
decide... The Bluedays' very first show took
place in January 2025. The gig, at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, wowed those lucky
enough to be present, many of whom had turned up to see if the band could
live up to expectations. Was there ever any doubt? The debut single, ‘Where Did You
Go?’, was recorded at the aforementioned gig and is a
three-and-a-half-minute snapshot of exactly where The Bluedays come from.
Urgent, energetic, demanding to be heard. An irresistible sonic feast of
pulsating drums, searing guitar, driven bass and passionate vocals – no
overdubs. Despite having a collective
musical history that could (and one day might) fill a book, this
Adelaide-based trio brings an unprecedented amount of enthusiasm,
togetherness and energy to everything they do. “The Bluedays are proving what
happens when the right energy meets the right ears.”
The Atomic, 9 May 2025 In addition to the release of
‘Where Did You Go?’, 2025 saw the band deliver on a number of fronts.
Come and Get It, a live album, was released and received favourably
across the board. Gigs included performances at many of Adelaide’s
better-known small-to-medium venues: Grace Emily, The Exeter, Wheatsheaf
and The Gov. The band made it (somewhat agonisingly) to Number 2 on the
Atomic Music charts and spent most of the second half of the year –
including an amazing 10-week straight stint – at Number 1 on
ReverbNation’s indie charts. A live-to-air radio broadcast on BBBfm 89.1
went so well that both video and audio recordings of selected songs have been
released. Work also continues on the band’s first studio
album, due in mid-2026. “Alt-rock meets Britpop
swagger. Catchy hooks, jangly guitars, and a touch of moody charm”
